what made me mad today

Who shall have access to a public school's facility? I may be blissfully ignorant in the "American way" but why on Earth should a brand new track be not used by people who have paid a portion of that facility and would greatly benefit from the use of said facility when otherwise it's just sitting there with shiny new padlocks and chains!!!!!!?????????

I am soooo irate, I am pounding my poor little laptop keyboard (already worn) and I think I may even take this "gripe" further, unless someone tells me that I AM in fact blissfully ignorant and just simply don't know the rules of engagement, or freakin' politics, or understand why an assistant principal thinks it's just too much trouble to keep up with the athletics department's schedule and trust a grown up with a padlock key.
I'll explain...so you can be mad too...

I would like to offer free training for all levels of athletes and non-athletes on an actual track, and perhaps even have family groups, mother's groups, father's group, whatever, just simply get people to COME TO THE TRACK and participate in a regular physical activity. I don't just mean interval training or round and round the track running, there are lots of routines and workouts that can be performed on or around the track that are not particularly speed or track workouts. I would have liked to introduce people to regular exercise, if you will, and simply make use of something I am familiar with, and is readily available and a perfect venue (aside from a park or a gym perhaps) for that sort of thing. Or is it? Nope, it's just too much trouble. I have contacted athletic directors, assistant principals, and now I even have heard the best: "There are some schools that rent their track out but it is too much trouble for me to keep up with their calendar". So I couldn't even pay him. WOOOOOOOOOW! Luckily, when I contacted the Lake Worth Recreational Department about taking my group to a City Park they said "Honey, good luck and stay safe!". Now I realize she meant "Good luck finding people who would want to participate!" See, this all ties in with the "effort/reward" entry I previously made, because I've just found that even a FUN and EFFECTIVE way to spend one's time is unattractive to people who do not want to make an effort. Because ultimately, that would mark the end of victim-hood and sympathy and all the awesome excuses.

It really is so simple, and I just realized I must have used this word 10 times already (but I can blame it on my limited vocabulary and language barrier), but see, it really is so simple. I will, however, find a way to be heard, and find the people who will follow and appreciate and live a better life, simply because they have made an effort. I have to go to literature class now, where I'll have a pleasure of listening to a grown up stutter through trying to read an english text (after supposedly reading for at least 15 years now)... and it's not even free...
